July Volunteer Day

Last Sunday, we were very pleased to see 14 volunteers take up our new mini bus from Bristol to join a group of 6 wild campers from ‘Explorers Connect‘ at the Arboretum; making this the biggest group of volunteers that we’ve ever had!

Here they were met by Jackie from Go Wild Education who gave a talk on the safe use of hand tools and identifying brambles, bracken and rhododendron to cut back to help to conserve the area.

Tea, coffee, biscuits and soft drinks were shared and off they went with great enthusiasm and before long real progress was being made.

A massive dent into the bramble was made during the weekend’s various volunteer activities and we are so pleased with the result. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers and especially the new faces; we hope to see you again soon.
