Another lovely day in the woods today, thanks to everyone who came along and put in so much energy.
We spent the day in the arena area in the centre of the site, which was overgrown with bracken, this was quickly bashed back and cleared. After a well deserved tea break we set to clearing some large Rhododendron from around a Persian Ironwood tree (which is as beautiful as it sounds) which was in much need of some space to grow. The tall Rhododendron was dismantled using felling cuts and ropes to make sure it didn’t unduly squash anything, then was quickly dragged off to be cut up by a waiting team of loppers. A light rain set in as we finished the day, indicating it was time to leave and return to our various dwellings.
Our next volunteer day is on the 15th of July, see you then!
