Thanks to everyone who came along today, it was one of the hottest volunteer days we’ve had but we managed to get lots done, enjoying the sun as we worked. The arboretum is looking beautiful at the moment, overgrown, but beautiful.
A Persian Ironwood tree was freed from the clutches of rhododendron, allowing more light to reach it’s branches. A team of volunteers uncovered the old donkey steps, reseating the stones in place and making the pathway easier to navigate. Further into the site bracken was bashed back and a large English oak was cleared of encroaching elder trees.
Our next volunteer day is on the 16th of July, let us know if you would like to come along!
