Thanks to everyone who came along yesterday, it was a lovely day!
We set-up in the middle of the arboretum, aiming to rebuild the steps which were discovered last year. Previously the steep pathway had been tricky to walk down, so it was great to improve this access, especially with winter on it’s way.
The steps were made from hornbeam, pegged into place using redwood and maple stakes. We also had some existing stones to use, which helped guide us to find the correct pacing. It was enjoyable work and really rewarding to be building something for future use.
Our next volunteer day is on the 17th of December, we’ll be having some Christmas treats and celebrating the achievements of the past year, hopefully see you then!
