Join us at Tortworth Forest Centre for a hands-on Fire Building & Campfire Cooking Workshop, where you’ll discover the art of outdoor cooking over an open fire. Guided by an experienced instructor, you’ll learn essential skills—from selecting and preparing wood to managing your fire throughout the day—while creating a delicious three-course meal.
The final menu will depend on whats growing in abundance at the time, however we promise it will be delicious! Perhaps we’ll start by making fresh butter and cheese, incorporating foraged flavours for a tasty starter, before preparing a hearty vegetarian main course and finish by baking a delicious pudding over the fire. Along the way, you’ll develop key fire management techniques and see how an open fire can be used to create dishes with rich, complex flavours. You can see some examples of our fireside meals here.
This workshop is hands-on and collaborative—we’ll prep, chop, stoke the fire, cook, and even tackle the dreaded washing up as a team! We’ll also discuss different recipes and techniques, leaving you with plenty of inspiration to continue your fire-cooking adventures at home.
Perfect for beginners and experienced outdoor cooks alike, this workshop will give you the confidence to cook up a storm in nature or over a firepit at home.
