Join us on 14th December for a self-guided walk through the tranquil Dell of Tortworth Arboretum. This month we’re celebrating a tree you may know as a Monkey Puzzle. Discover the heritage, history and folklore behind this wonderful specimen.

Discover the tranquility of this ancient woodland, carefully restored since 2014 by dedicated volunteers. Once overrun by bramble and bracken, it now features over 600 native, exotic, and veteran trees, along with seasonal carpets of snowdrops and bluebells. Explore marked trails or venture off-grid to uncover its hidden gems, including an arena and donkey steps used in the estate’s history. While wild areas remain to support wildlife, ongoing efforts focus on replanting, maintaining paths, and enhancing signage, ensuring this unique arboretum continues to thrive and inspire.

Once you’ve finished your walk, or if you need a brief break just follow the enticing smell of woodsmoke back to the Roundhouse to buy a warm beverage.
