DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a self-guided walk through the tranquil Dell of Tortworth Arboretum. The summer month are a luscious time to visit as the arboretum reaches full leaf.\nWe invite you to enjoy the peace of this place\, follow a map of marked trails or go off grid and create your own. \nThis ancient woodland was once overrun by bramble and bracken\, and since 2014 has been carefully restored by a dedicated team of volunteers. They have uncovered an arena and steps once used by donkeys to transport produce from the kitchen gardens to the main house\, plus a stunning collection of over 600\, native\, exotic and veteran trees. As the ground was cleared we were rewarded with carpets of seasonal flowers\, including snowdrops and bluebells. Work now focuses on replanting and maintaining the arboretum. The team have created paths and cleared around trees and plants so they can flourish and be enjoyed\, and are improving labelling and signage. It’s still wild in places\, and we plan to keep it that way because it’s part of what makes this place unique. Moreover\, it’s also great for wildlife. \nOnce you’ve finished your walk\, or if you need a brief break just follow the enticing smell of woodsmoke back to the Roundhouse where a warm beverage awaits you. \nConnect with yourself\, connect with your loved ones\, connect with nature. \nTickets and information \nOur 2026 visitor days are supported by funding from the National Lottery Awards for All Environment Grant. Tickets are now available on a sliding scale donation basis. \nHere’s how we see each suggested donation:\n• Free ticket – for anyone for whom any payment would cause genuine hardship. This is for people struggling with everyday costs such as food\, rent\, bills\, or transport.\n• £5 for individuals who can meet daily costs but contributing a small amount would be a noticeable sacrifice. This is suitable for people with limited disposable income or who occasionally need to plan carefully to cover essentials.\n• £8 for people comfortably meeting daily costs with some disposable income. SUMMARY:Bluebell Season at Tortworth Arboretum - cancelled
DESCRIPTION:A mild winter has brought the bluebells on a little too enthusiastically this year\, and we believe by the May bank holiday they will be past their best. Rather than invite you to admire what will essentially be a rather tired woodland floor\, we think it is only fair to cancel and hope for better coordination with the seasons in 2027. \nThis is one of our favourite times of year at the arboretum\, so we are genuinely disappointed that nature has got the better of our timing this time round. \nIf you are able to join us on Saturday 25th April instead we would love to see you whilst the bluebells are still in bloom.

The abundance of bluebells at Tortworth Forest Centre is an indication that this woodland has been around for centuries. The land\, once overtaken by bramble and bracken\, has been carefully restored since 2014 by a dedicated team of volunteers. Their efforts have uncovered an old arena and steps once used by donkeys to transport produce from the kitchen gardens to the main house\, as well as a stunning collection of over 600 native\, exotic\, and veteran trees. \nThe work now focuses on replanting and maintenance. Volunteers have created pathways\, cleared around trees and plants to help them thrive\, and improved labelling and signage.
