A massive thank you to everyone that braved the wet weather this morning to come and volunteer with us! It turned out to be a lovely day and it was great to get so much done.
We started the day by sharpening tools then heading out into the rain to tackle a large area of bramble growing around the ‘Bee Garden’. This was soon pushed back and we were then able to focus on removing bramble growing into the surrounding trees.
After some hot soup and a much needed cup of tea were pleased to see the rain finally stop and some sunshine make an appearance. We then spent the afternoon in the same area undercutting rhododendron bushes and building a dead hedge from piles of fallen branches. The end result was a dramatic improvement, with improved access and lots of space for the trees, along with much more light for the wild flowers on the ground. A nice day’s work!
