DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a self-guided walk through the tranquil Dell of Tortworth Arboretum. The summer month are a luscious time to visit as the arboretum reaches full leaf.\nWe invite you to enjoy the peace of this place\, follow a map of marked trails or go off grid and create your own. \nThis ancient woodland was once overrun by bramble and bracken\, and since 2014 has been carefully restored by a dedicated team of volunteers. They have uncovered an arena and steps once used by donkeys to transport produce from the kitchen gardens to the main house\, plus a stunning collection of over 600\, native\, exotic and veteran trees. As the ground was cleared we were rewarded with carpets of seasonal flowers\, including snowdrops and bluebells. Work now focuses on replanting and maintaining the arboretum. The team have created paths and cleared around trees and plants so they can flourish and be enjoyed\, and are improving labelling and signage. It’s still wild in places\, and we plan to keep it that way because it’s part of what makes this place unique. Moreover\, it’s also great for wildlife. \nOnce you’ve finished your walk\, or if you need a brief break just follow the enticing smell of woodsmoke back to the Roundhouse where a warm beverage awaits you. \nConnect with yourself\, connect with your loved ones\, connect with nature. \nTickets and information \nOur 2026 visitor days are supported by funding from the National Lottery Awards for All Environment Grant. Tickets are now available on a sliding scale donation basis. \nHere’s how we see each suggested donation:\n• Free ticket – for anyone for whom any payment would cause genuine hardship. This is for people struggling with everyday costs such as food\, rent\, bills\, or transport.\n• £5 for individuals who can meet daily costs but contributing a small amount would be a noticeable sacrifice. This is suitable for people with limited disposable income or who occasionally need to plan carefully to cover essentials.\n• £8 for people comfortably meeting daily costs with some disposable income. Paying this amount might require minor sacrifices\, but it is manageable and allows you to support the arboretum fairly.\n• £10 for those with savings\, stable income\, or additional financial resources. DESCRIPTION:A mild winter has brought the bluebells on a little too enthusiastically this year\, and we believe by the May bank holiday they will be past their best. Rather than invite you to admire what will essentially be a rather tired woodland floor\, we think it is only fair to cancel and hope for better coordination with the seasons in 2027. \nThis is one of our favourite times of year at the arboretum\, so we are genuinely disappointed that nature has got the better of our timing this time round. \nIf you are able to join us on Saturday 25th April instead we would love to see you whilst the bluebells are still in bloom.

We’re celebrating the first signs of spring and beautiful snowdrops. For a quieter atmosphere\, you may prefer our dog-free session. \nTickets and information \nOur 2026 visitor days are supported by funding from the National Lottery Awards for All Environment Grant. Tickets are now available on a sliding scale donation basis. \nHere’s how we see each suggested donation:\n• Free ticket – for those for whom any payment would cause genuine hardship. This is for people struggling with everyday costs such as food\, rent\, bills\, or transport.\n• £5 for those who can meet daily costs but contributing a small amount would be a noticeable sacrifice. This is suitable for people with limited disposable income or who occasionally need to plan carefully to cover essentials.\n• £8 for those comfortably meeting daily costs with some disposable income. Paying this amount might require minor sacrifices\, but it is manageable and allows you to support the arboretum fairly.\n• £10 for those with savings\, stable income\, or additional financial resources. Choosing this tier is a way to actively support the restoration and wellbeing programme and help subsidise access for others. \nIf you are booking multiple tickets\, you can mix and match tiers to suit each person’s circumstances\, so a family or group can attend comfortably without anyone facing hardship. Sign up to our mailing list. \nAbout the arboretum \nTortworth Forest Centre and arboretum is a hidden gem in South Gloucestershire\, home to over 600 native\, exotic and veteran trees. Once overgrown and inaccessible\, it has been lovingly restored by hundreds of volunteers since 2014. As the ground was cleared\, we were rewarded with carpets of seasonal blooms\, including snowdrops and bluebells. Today\, you’ll find meandering paths\, peaceful glades and glimpses of the past; from stone steps once used by donkeys to the remnants of an old arena. In this special two-hour workshop\, you’ll learn to weave a stunning wreath from sustainably grown\, pre-soaked willow\, guided step by step through the entire process. First\, you’ll create a sturdy\, reusable willow hoop—perfect for all seasons—before decorating it with an array of seasonal greenery and natural embellishments to make a truly bespoke piece. \nAll of this takes place in our enchanting open roundhouse\, where the warmth of the fire and the comforting scent of woodsmoke mingle with the festive aroma of mulled wine and apple juice. Enjoy mince pies as you craft\, letting the sights and sounds of the season spark your creativity. \nLeave with not just a beautiful wreath to hang on your door\, but a memory to treasure—this is more than just a workshop; it’s an experience to celebrate the season in the most natural\, authentic way. You’ll be the envy of friends and family\, with a handmade wreath that’s as unique as the setting in which you created it. \nWhat’s included?\nAll tools and natural materials are included\, along with tea\, coffee\, mulled wine/juice and a homemade mince pie. If you would prefer to bring something of your choice with you such as ribbon\, baubles or bells please do so. \n\nKnowledge required: Perfect for beginners! \nGroup size: 12 maximum. \nMinimum age: We think this event is best suited to those 15+. \nDogs welcome?
