Sustainable Woodland Management
for Adults in Recovery from Addiction
We run a weekly volunteer management day for individuals in recovery from addiction.
The work day is a combination of restoration work in the arboretum itself and sessions learning about wildlife monitoring, woodland management with hand tools, looking after veteran trees, beekeeping, and visits to other projects. We will be working with our partners to deliver training and support throughout the year.
We believe the scheme is a stepping stone towards further training and paid employment, for individuals who have been out of work long term as a result of alcohol dependency.
We have been awarded funding from Big Lottery Fund to run the work days.
This is our second year-long programme for adults in recovery, running weekly for one year. For a taste of what the day is like, read Steve’s story, and contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to join us in the woods.
