We have a small but mighty team of part-time staff who manage the Dell at Tortworth Arboretum, ensure the Tortworth Forest Centre CIC is run smoothly and deliver our community events, volunteer days and wellbeing projects.
The environment sector is one of the least ethnically diverse sectors in the UK and we want to contribute to changing this. We are committed to equity of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where everyone feels they belong. We also know that diversity fosters creativity and innovation. We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are underrepresented in our team. These include people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people and LGBTQI+ people.

8-24 hours per week at £15.17 per hour (£31,553.60 FTE)
We are looking for a new Woodland Management Officer who will work with our Collections Manager, volunteers and participants to restore our collection of over 600 trees including several champions and rare specimens from around the world.
This is an incredible opportunity for someone looking to gain woodland management experience in an inclusive work environment. This is a practical and on-site role which would suit someone looking for mostly term-time hours:
- Woodland Management Days – weekly Tuesdays 9am-4:45pm (7 ¾ hours)
- Hawthorn Project – weekly Wednesdays 10am-3:15pm term-time only (5 ¼ hours)
- Oak Tree Project – weekly Thursdays 9:30am-3:30pm term-time only (6 hours)
- Community Volunteer Days – third Sunday of each month – 9:30am-4:30pm (7 hours)
The role includes driving our minibus from Bristol BS2 to Tortworth GL12 – this is vital for ensuring our projects are accessible and inclusive to all. MIDAS training will be provided.
Closing date for applications: Monday 5th January, 9am
