Tales from Tortworth – Lee’s story

Join us as we celebrate our 10th year with heartfelt stories from those who’ve been part of our journey.

I’m not sure what I could say besides voicing the fact that attending Tortworth has given me the chance to ‘Escape into the Forest’ and that it has been a Much-Needed Lifeline for me. It gives me the opportunity to get away from all my woes and the daily struggles of ‘Life In General’ and ‘Get Back To Nature’ for a few hours.

I’ve always found it difficult to communicate effectively with Humans as we inevitably end up falling on some misunderstanding, but the more I attend the Oak Tree Project, the more I can feel little cracks appearing in the thick stone walls which I’ve no doubt subconsciously built up over such a long period of time – to a point it actually felt like I was leaving something behind this year when we drove away from the site, ready to start the Summer Holidays.

In addition to that, I’ve always enjoyed taking part in Kelly’s Crafts and although not all have necessarily appealed to me at the time, those that have, have given me a new skill or inspired me to try something at home!

I’ve hopefully added a picture of my Foraging Pouch to this writing – to which I finally attached that Bumblebee Embroidered badge that I was inspired to make so that I might decorate said pouch with it – I have to admit it looks real proper where it sits and I’m wondering if I might end up adding something else later on!
