December volunteer day

We had a very enjoyable volunteer day yesterday – our last of the year. It was the solstice too – and it felt like a nice opportunity to get together and share a meal.

Most of the day was spent clearing up a fallen birch tree, using crosscut saws for taking the limbs apart, then splitting mauls to process down for firewood. We also dug out more bamboo roots along the footpath, plus planted a few more trees and shrubs around the middle of the site.

A massive thank you to everyone that has helped out and volunteered with us this year. Your support is essential for the upkeep of the woodland. We have achieved so much and the arboretum is looking wonderful for it!
