The walk will begin at the handcrafted roundhouse with a brief introduction to the arboretum and safety talk before venturing out together. Identifying mushrooms is a complicated but fascinating process. Jake will take you through some of the key features to look for, including how to recognise plant habitats and which specimens to avoid. This is an opportunity to touch, smell and learn, take photos and videos, make notes and take away a wealth of information.
This is a relaxed walk with lots of time to ask questions, satisfy your curiosity and expand your perspective of native plant life.

We operate from a basic woodland venue with rustic furniture around the camp so do feel free to bring additional items for your comfort. With this in mind most of our pathways can be slippery and muddy at times, appropriate footwear is encouraged. There will be hot beverages available however this is otherwise a non-catered workshop so you will need to bring along any drinking water, food and snacks you may desire. We recommend bringing a notebook or camera to help you remember all the information!
Tortworth Forest Centre is a Community Interest Company, working with limited resources. Sometimes we may have to cancel or postpone courses if they are less than 50% subscribed. We try our hardest to keep courses running wherever possible. You can help us by spreading the word to friends, family and colleagues. If an event is cancelled a full refund will be offered.
