July volunteer day

Another wonderful day in the woods yesterday, and surprisingly sunny despite the rain forecast!

We took on large areas of bracken all around the centre of the site, weeding our planted trees and making space for new trees to be planted. There was also a team armed with mattocks taking on the difficult task of digging up bamboo and bramble from around the giant redwoods. There is still much more to do but they made good progress.

After a delicious lunch (thanks Rhea!), we set back to more of the same, albeit with a slightly slower pace. Our main focus of the afternoon was an area near the ‘arena’, where we hope to plant shrubs later this year.

It was a lovely day to be in the woods, thanks to everyone that came along!
