October volunteer day

We had a massive turnout of volunteers yesterday, thank you all!

The autumn sun was glorious and it was a lovely day to be in the woods. We spent the morning clearing areas for new plantings and the afternoon getting some trees in the ground. Amongst our new additions were camellias and Acer palmatum saplings, propagated from our very own veteran acer, the first of many we are planning to add back in to the collection.

Other teams also worked hard scything, building dead hedges and splitting wood from our recently felled birch tree. It was a busy day!

Next month we hope to do some bench building and more planting.

See you next time!
