Champion tree
Often remarked upon as one of the largest Acer palmatum trees visitors have ever seen. This is a firm favourite of staff and regular vistors to the site, with beautiful leaves and a carpet of bluebells in the spring.
We believe this is a ‘bundle’ planting, though no planting records survive so it’s age is unknown.
In recent years our volunteers have successfully propagated the seeds and we hope to add some seedlings back into the collection in the near future.
