June Volunteer Day

This June we had our first volunteer conservation day funded by the Nineveh Charitable Trust, and saw 8 volunteers arrive in the woods by coach to start the task of removing large patches of bamboo.

Our aim was to get started with removal of bamboo in the tree climbing clearing. With a concerted effort we managed to not only remove a large amount of bamboo and rhododendron, but also create a pathway into a new clearing with some interesting new oaks and maples.

Our food (vegetarian butternut squash stew) was cooked by Karen over the fire, a long lunch break meant that we were able to refuel and continue on into the afternoon.

Thank you to everyone who donated their Sunday to this project, see you next month.
