December 2023 Visitor Day – Evergreens

Join us on 16th December for a self-guided walk through the tranquil Dell of Tortworth Arboretum and a warming cup of mulled apple juice. This month we’re celebrating the gorgeous evergreens in our collection.

Discover this enchanting place and our stunning collection of over 600 native, exotic and veteran trees.

We invite you to enjoy the peace, wander through a grove of redwoods, spot the many shades of evergreens, follow a map of natural trails or go off grid and create your own, discover an ancient arena, explore fallen trees, swings, befriend three friendly and inquisitive goats, wander over beautiful bridges over babbling brooks, enjoy the wildlife and much more.

Once you’ve finished your walk, or if you need a brief break just follow the enticing smell of woodsmoke back to the Roundhouse where a warm beverage awaits you.

Please note:

This is a restoration project in progress. We are working hard with volunteers to restore, replant and maintain the arboretum following years of abandonment. We have created paths and cleared around trees so they can flourish and be enjoyed, and are improving labelling and signage. It’s still wild in places, and we plan to keep it that way because it’s part of what makes this place unique. Moreover, it’s also great for wildlife.
