Join Meg, a Woodland Wellbeing Facilitator and performance poet, experimenting with words in a safe and inclusive woodland environment. Surrounded by ancient trees and birdsong, you will be gently guided through a series of exercises designed to spark your creativity and deepen your connection with the natural world.
The afternoon will unfold at an unhurried pace: beginning with a few short writing exercises around the fire to help clear the mind, followed by longer free-writing sessions inspired by the sights, sounds and textures of the woodland. A led foraging walk through the arboretum will offer new perspectives and sensory prompts. Finally you will be guided through structured writing exercises using prompts to help shape your words. By the end of the session, you will hopefully have the solid beginnings of a piece of poetry to take home, alongside a renewed sense of connection with the natural world. We will close the day with foraged herbal tea, biscuits, and time to share and reflect on your writing if you wish.
This workshop offers a chance to nurture your creativity in a supportive and peaceful setting. There is never any pressure to share your words, but gentle encouragement is offered to help you get the most from the experience.
Suitable for: beginners to moderately experienced writers, aged 18+
Group size: 12 maximum
What to bring: your preferred writing pad and implement
Dogs welcome? Our Workshop and Walk and Talk events are dog-free to ensure a comfortable experience for all attendees; we welcome dogs on other designated visiting days
