July Volunteer day

A big thank you to everyone who came today, and great to welcome a few new faces to the group. We were blessed with lots of sunshine which came as a nice surprise!

We got an impressive amount done – after a leisurely cup of tea in the morning we tackled the patches of knotweed, careful to avoid spreading it around the site. Then we freed a few trees which were engulfed in bramble before sitting down to a nice lunch (thanks Paul!). In the afternoon we cleared around an ancient chestnut tree, 300-350 years old, which had rhododendron closing in all around it, slowly taking over. Hopefully now it can live for many more years to come.

So the next volunteer day is the 21st of August, followed by the 11th of September. Hope to see you then!
