July volunteer day
A lovely volunteer day at the arboretum yesterday. A massive thank you to everyone that came along. We cleared some big areas of bracken, using sticks and scythes – a very satisfying activity! There were also plenty of trees to weed and water.
In the afternoon we all downed tools to do a butterfly survey in the shade, seeing lots of familiar species. We will submit our findings to the Big Butterfly Count, which is on until the 9th August, see their website to take part.
On a similar note, we have also just reached over 1000 observations submitted to iNaturalist! Well done all! We’re currently at 468 species, with hopes to get to 500 by the end of the year. See our findings here.
Thanks all and see you next month!
