Some wonderful scything action this month!

We had some lovely weather and took on some big areas, clearing under specimen trees and making a ginormous cuttings pile for future mulching. We worked around our redwood area, also focusing on an American lime, golden larch and katsura.

Scything under the trees really helps then standout and be admired, as well as keeping the bramble at bay. Whilst doing this we are careful to leave large areas of grass as habitat, particularly around our veteran oaks.

It was a muggy day, but we got loads done – big thanks to everyone that came along.

Also a massive thank you to Nuclear Restoration Services and National Lottery Community Fund who have helped fund our wellbeing groups over the last year. We’ve been able to buy many things including a new scythe, wheelbarrow, trolley and gloves, which are all proving invaluable for our work.
