May volunteer day

Another great volunteer day!

We started the day processing a large fallen oak limb, using the crosscut saw for the bigger sections. This was soon taken care of, followed by some tree maintenance and mulching. Some of our recent plantings were out in flower – the enkianthus in particular looking fabulous (see below).

After lunch we set to work scything the main area. It was nice to get the scythes out again, a few people using them for the first time and soon getting the hang of it.
