May volunteer day
Another beautiful day in the woods yesterday. Thank you to everyone that came along and for all the energy!
We got lots done, and made sure to enjoy all the sunshine and trees. Our main focus was removing rhododendron roots from key areas of the site, carefully selecting some to retain and also making opportunities for exciting new pathways. We got really into it and an impressive amount was achieved.
Meanwhile there was a log splitting workshop, teaching safe axe use and some dedicated volunteers bringing cart loads of logs to split. We also installed a new bench underneath the redwoods and tested out the scythes for the first time this year.
Next month we will be getting the scythes out again and taking on some big areas!
See you in the woods!
