March Volunteer Day
What lovely weather we had this Sunday! A big thank you to everyone who joined us.
We had a busy day, getting loads of work done. In the morning new areas were cleared of bramble and rhododendron for potential tree plantings later in the year. Fallen oak limbs were sawn up and processed for firewood.
Meanwhile another group of volunteers took on the task of visiting some of our recently planted trees. These regular inspections are really important to check in and see how the young trees are getting on. A chance to look at their health as well as lots of weeding and mulching to help them on their way.
After a delicious stew for lunch, we set back to work, this time focusing our efforts on the public footpath. We tidied up our bamboo clumps, which were getting quite wild, feeding the cuttings to our hungry goats. We also freed a specimen birch from bramble, giving it a bit more room to breath and better visibility for passersby.
