March volunteer day

Another busy volunteer Sunday at the arboretum yesterday, and sunny too! It was wonderful to see such a big turnout and lots of new faces. We got loads done!

We started off with some hedge maintenance along the lane, clearing out old tree protectors and have a good tidy up. Whilst this was going on a large group of volunteers worked in the middle of the site, undercutting rhododendron and having a bonfire. It was amazing to see the area being transformed so quickly.

A group of volunteers also began to transplant snowdrops around the site, adding to key areas where they have taken to well. We look forward to seeing them appear again next year.

After some warm soup for lunch it was back out into the trees for more of the same! At the end of the day we also got to taste some birch sap, collected directly from the tree – very refreshing! A massive thank you to everyone that came along.

See you next time!

P.S. Our big 10th Anniversary event is fast approaching. Please do sign-up on the website if you would like to come along to give us an idea of numbers.
