December volunteer day

A great day in the woods yesterday. We worked on the new pathways again, creating a dead hedge and taking apart a fallen Goat Willow, it’s starting to look really nice! We treated ourselves to hot mince pies and custard as reward.
There was also time to measure our veteran Sweet Chestnut trees, the largest being over 7 meter in circumference (and now known to come directly from the nearby famous Tortworth Chestnut).
A big thank-you to everyone that came along and all the volunteers that have joined us and helped throughout the year. We’re very much looking forward to next year, when we’re going to complete our mapping project, connect up new areas of the arboretum and start planting more trees!
See you in 2019!
