December at Tortworth Arboretum

As December approaches the arboretum takes on a quiet charm. Whether you’re wrapping up for a brisk walk or simply enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, there’s still plenty to see.

Winter Wildlife

Despite the cold, our woodland creatures are still active. Muntjac deer can be seen (or more often heard!) more easily, while squirrels are busy gathering food. Robins and wrens flit about, adding colour to the winter landscape.

Seasonal Beauty

Even as the trees lose their leaves, the arboretum remains beautiful. The evergreen conifers stand tall and the silver bark of our birches offers a striking contrast to the grey sky. Look out for the last of the autumn leaves and the colourful sweet gum trees.

A Time for Reflection

Winter is the perfect time for quiet reflection. Whether sitting by the chilly stream or walking along leaf strewn pathways, there’s a sense of peace and escape. It’s a lovely spot to slow down.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up 2024, we’re excited for what’s to come, including our 10th anniversary celebrations in April! But for now, we invite you to enjoy the winter calm at the arboretum. We’re open on Saturday 14th December for our last chance to visit this year — come take a stroll and let nature offer a bit of peace this festive season.
