Planting new trees with the help of local businesses

This year has seen a lot of tree planting activity in the arboretum – with our wellbeing groups getting the spades out to plant some new specimen trees and having a lot of fun in the process!
We have been planting to celebrate our upcoming 10th anniversary and have been approaching local businesses to help us mark the occasion by sponsoring a tree. We have some fabulous sponsors so far and are looking out for more local businesses who would be interested in supporting us. Support which helps us continue restoring this beautiful woodland and fostering connections between people and nature.
So far our wonderful trees and sponsors are:
A beautiful Chinese red barked birch (Betula utilis subsp. albosinensis). This tree has been kindly sponsored by local business Concept Environmental. Our Tuesday woodland management volunteers found a nice sunny position just next to a path, where its beautiful red peeling bark can best be enjoyed.
A new Dawn redwood! This tree has been kindly sponsored by Bristol based campervan specialists Mint Campers. We’ve picked out a nice prominent position along the public footpath next to the stream, which should suit it well.
Magnolia ‘Cecil Nice’, kindly sponsored by Richard Solomans. The young tree was carefully planted out by participants of our Hawthorn Project, and has a great position, with plenty of sun and shelter from the wind. We’re looking forward to seeing it flower!
A wonderful Acer davidii, kindly sponsored by local legal firm Loxely. The young maple was carefully planted out by participants of our Oak Tree Project, and has a prominent position along a main pathway where its amazing bark can best be admired!

A massive thank you to Concept Environmental, Loxely, Richard Solomans and Mint Campers, and also to The National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery players for making it all possible.
